Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) is a form of habituation therapy specifically designed to help people who suffer from tinnitus. TRT uses various counselling techniques to help the patients overcome their tinnitus perception. Noise generators are used in TRT to produce a background noise to provide distraction and relief in silent situations when tinnitus is most likely to be perceived.
